Greg Newman · Associate Portfolio Manager & Director, Senior Wealth Advisor

Greg NewmanGreg is passionate about enriching clients' lives and strives to better understand and improve their financial situations. He believes that growing and protecting wealth can lead to wonderful outcomes for current and future generations.

Fulfilling this goal requires a combination of experience, judgement and professionalism which he has acquired through more than 16 years of wealth management experience.

Greg has achieved his Chartered Investment (CIM) Designation and Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.), which contribute to how he plays a fundamental role in your strategy for financial success.

His passion for investment management is second only to his family. Greg met his wife in university and they now have three beautiful children. He is an active supporter of the Children's Wish Foundation and participates in community causes such as coaching little league baseball. Greg is also a dedicated squash player and competes in men's squash leagues.

Allan Newman · Associate Portfolio Manager & Director, Senior Wealth Advisor

Allan NewmanAllan uses his broad education and extensive experience to help individuals and families grown and protect their wealth, often through multiple generations. He believes that the learning process never ends and maintains an enduring interest in the financial markets.

Allan's experience as a Wealth Advisor at ScotiaMcLeod began in 1996. He graduated Honours Business Administration (H.B.A) at the University of Western Ontario in 1988 and from Osgoode Hall Law School with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1991.

Allan articled at a large Bay Street law firm and focused on corporate, tax and securities law. Before his career as a Wealth Manager, Allan worked as a real estate property manager and as a valuator of private businesses. Allan was studying to become a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) completing 5 of the 6 required courses when his interests and passion led him into the Wealth Management business.

When not working, Allan enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle and his three wonderful children. Allan loves to travel, is involved with various charities and is an avid reader.

Miranda Chan · Investment Associate

Miranda ChanMiranda uses her experience and operational knowledge to identify suitable investments and financial planning opportunities. She works with clients to educate them on investment products and ScotiaMcLeod processes

Miranda has been working in the financial services sector since 2003. As a licensed registered representative, Miranda works with clients to manage their day to day account management and investment needs.

Miranda graduated from York University with a Bachelors of Administrative Studies, and holds a Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation. She is also licensed to trade options

Her dedication to her job is exemplified by her multiple customer service awards including Scotiabank's “Best of the Best” title.

Prior to working in the financial services industry Miranda spent a year studying culinary arts at Humber College where she explored her passion for food and cooking.

On her time off Miranda enjoys cooking with her husband, entertaining friends at home, reading, and travel.

Hilda Abazi · Investment Associate

Hilda brings with her 10 years of experience in the financial services industry.
As an Investment Associate, Hilda is primarily focused on investment strategies and  market research. She provides her clients expertise on various investment solutions. She is well versed in Canadian, US and international markets. Hilda holds a Bachelor of Science as well as professional designations such as Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), Option and Derivative License and is fully Iicensed as Life Insurance and A&S representative, allowing her to provide risk management and tax-deferral strategies.
She speaks English, French, Italian and Albanian. Hilda’s outstanding communication skills allow us to extend our care and commitment to our clients on a personal level. Hilda believes that trust is the foundation for any successful advisor-client relationship, thus proactively maintains contact with her clients to ensure comfort and peace of mind.
Outside the office, Hilda loves going to the opera and enjoys traveling and learning new languages.

Noel Young · Administrative Associate

Noel YoungNoel brings her knowledge of back office procedures and client servicing experience to the team. She will be assisting with all aspects of account administration and client servicing. She has completed her Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Course and is currently working towards furthering her education to better serve our clients.

Noel started working with Scotiabank in the Client Accounting Department in 2008 and moved over to ScotiaMcLeod in 2010. Prior to joining The Newman Group, she was an administrative associate for the National Branch. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies with a Business Option from Wilfred Laurier University.

She was a participant in the CN Tower Stair Climb for United Way fundraiser from 2008-2010. Outside of work, Noel enjoys travelling and is passionate about photography.

Kevin Low · Managed Asset Consultant

Kevin LowKevin co-ordinates the appropriate experts to target your specific financial needs. Drawing upon the expertise of Financial Planning, Estate Planning, Risk Management, Private Banking and International services, you can be assured that you will receive a personalized offering that incorporates all aspects of your financial and wealth planning needs.

Kevin has over 21 years' experience in the financial services industry and holds a BA in Economics from York University.

Jim Stevenson · Associate Director, Insurance

Jim StevensonJim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and is Ontario life licensed. He joined ScotiaMcLeod in 2002. As part of ScotiaMcLeod’s team of experts, Jim and his team offer complete insurance expertise to help clients reach their financial objectives. They provide a wealth of knowledge, experience and insight to deliver a variety of insurance solutions that meet your needs and goals.

Malcom Burrows

Malcolm BurrowsMalcolm leads philanthropic advisory services, where he advises clients on charitable giving. Malcolm is one of Canada’s best-known charitable gift planners, with 13 years of experience in the charitable sector working for University of Toronto, Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. He was Chair of Government Relations for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) from 2002 to 2006.
